SF₆ Gas Sampling & GIS Testing at Southern Seawater Desalination Plant

Our team recently completed SF₆ gas sampling and testing on Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant in Western Australia.

The project was completed in collaboration with Siemens and Megavar, with our team providing specialist SF₆ gas sampling services as part of the site's electrical maintenance and asset management program.

SF₆ Gas Testing for GIS Equipment

SF₆ (sulphur hexafluoride) is commonly used as an insulating and arc-quenching gas in high-voltage GIS equipment. Testing the condition of the gas is an important part of monitoring the health and reliability of this equipment.

During the project, we sampled SF₆ gas from the GIS chambers for analysis, checking the condition of the gas and identifying potential contamination such as moisture and impurities.

Regular SF₆ gas testing can help electrical asset owners with:

  • GIS condition monitoring
  • SF₆ purity and moisture assessment
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Fault investigation
  • High-voltage asset management

Supporting Critical Infrastructure in WA

The Southern Seawater Desalination Plant is an important piece of Western Australia's water infrastructure, making reliable electrical equipment essential to ongoing operations.

Working alongside Siemens, Megavar and site personnel, we were pleased to provide specialist SF₆ gas sampling and testing services to support the reliability of the plant's high-voltage electrical assets.

If you require SF₆ gas sampling, SF₆ testing or GIS testing in Perth or across Western Australia, contact our team to discuss your requirements.
